Programming the Metrologic scanner using the December 2002 guide,

Sequence is as followsm for older guides see below.

Scan “Enter Config Mode” (Page 2). Scanner will beep 3 times
Scan “Disable CR Suffix” (Page 54) Scanner will beep once

Scan “Suffix Character #1” ( Page 57) Scanner will beep once
Scan “Code Byte 1” (Page 90) Scanner will beep once
Scan “Code Byte 4” (Page 90) Scanner will beep twice
Scan “Code Byte 2” (Page 90) Scanner will beep 3 times.
Scan “Exit Config Mode” (Page 2) Scanner will beep 3 times

The above procedure will alter the suffix from a carriage return to NP Enter. This may be used for all SoftSell scanning functions. To program a scanner for Point of Sale Only, skip the code byte sequence and have the scanner send “Tab, Tab, 1, Tab.”  This will allow continuous scanning of sold items without touching the keyboard or mouse.

For the Metrologic autosensing laser scanner – Pre 12/2002.

Turn to page 22 of your programming guide and scan the following:
1. Enter/Exit program mode
2. "CR OFF"
Turn to page 48 of your programming guide and scan the following:
3. "First Programmable Suffix ID"
Turn to page 49 of your programming guide and scan the following:
4. "R B 1", "R B 4", "R B 2"
5. Enter/Exit program mode

The above will program your gun to send "<NUMBER PAD> Enter" after each scan. Your Bar Code Scanner will perform required keyboard functions during multiple item scanning. This will speed up inventory data entry procedures dramatically!

How and Why to Adjust Scanner autosensing
The MS951 "autosensing" laser bar code scanners may be easier to use when it triggers 3" from the label. The default setting is 8 inches. There are often many bar code labels to choose from on electronics items. Picking from them may be easier when you shorten the auto-trigger distance.

Metrologic
Turn to page 22 of your programming guide and scan the following:
1. "Enter/Exit program mode"
2. "Short Range Activation". "Out of the Stand"
3. "Enter/Exit program mode"

This setting only has an effect when the scanner is out of the holder. See the additional commands to set the sensitivity when it's in the cradle also on page 49.
